Protective Style; Crochet Braids

Hi Ladies. How are y'all? I missed you all much! I know I've been away for a while, I travelled to Kogi State, Nigeria to celebrate my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. It was a long one week of prepping, dancing, eating and catching up with my cousins and extended family but I'm grateful to God, friends and family that it turned out great. Before I left, I promised a post on how i'll install my crochet braids so here goes. I washed my hair on Tuesday the 16th after doing a baggy the previous night on my ends with a mix of castor and coconut oil.

Hair Update

Hi ladies.  This is my first hair update of the year. I think once the year is over I would probably stop having firsts. Lol! I Co washed my hair on Saturday and though it went well I'm beginning to have small troubles with my new growth.

Co wash | Flexi rod set

Hi ladies.  How was you weekend? I  cowashed my hair on Saturday and it went really well. Tried 2 new things this wash day. Here goes;

- Deep conditioned on dry hair with Motions Moisture Plus on roots and Ors hair mayo on ends.  (My first time of doing this). Kept it on for quite a while or till the heatcap had cooled because I was babysitting. Lool!!
- Rinsed with cool water.

Babysitting my 1yr old cousin with my heatcap on, my lil sisters photo bombed. Lool!!

- Co washed with V05 moisturising conditioner.  Kept it on for 10 minutes and rinsed with cool water again.
- Air dried till my hair was 70% dry.
-Applied my leave-ins; mega profective leave in strengthener  and Elasta Qp olive oil and mango butter. (Had to do this fast because my hair was drying at the speed of light. Lmao!). This is the only reason I love harmattan.
- Sealed with coconut oil.
- Proceeded to install the flexi rods. Installed 12 in 45 minutes. This is how I looked...

- I removed them the next day for Sunday service and didn't like how puffy they looked so I created my own style.
- Pulled my hair back by the sides and secured with a bobby pin then tucked in the hair I left at the back and secured that with a bobby pin too .

I love this style I created and would definitely keep doing it till I install my crotchet braids.
Prior to starting a hair journey, i used flexi  rods a lot but because my hair was bone straight it never came out well so i'd always end up combing it out. This is my first official flexi rod set on my hhj and I love it. Whoop! Whoop!
Ps: My mum insisted I take a picture of her and put it on the blog too.
Isn't her hair gorgeous*winks*.

How did your wash day go?

My Harmattan Regimen

Hi ladies. Hope you've entered the spirit of Christmas😊. I adjusted my regimen because the Harmattan season has commenced here in Abuja and the weather is now cold, dry, and dusty...urrrghhh! Well,  the good news is there's no excuse to be lazy anymore because if I don't moisturise often my hair will become brittle and break. No way!!! This is my adjusted regimen;
- Co wash every week ( did this when I felt like,  but it's necessary now to help retain moisture).
- Wash every 2 weeks.
- Deep condition with more of moisture than protein since the weather is drier now.
- Moisturise and seal more often ( found an empty spray bottle and made a runny solution of my leave-in conditioner;  mega profective leave in strengthener with a drop of coconut and olive oil ).
- Introduce baggying weekly before co wash ( it's a way of retaining moisture in your ends ).
- I intend to install crotchet braids in 2 weeks as a protective style to reduce manipulation and for Christmas😉.

Also I joined phrophro's #growthchallenge2015. You can read about it and sign up too here phrogroup.com.

Have you recently adjusted your regimen?
